Welp, that was one hell of a ride. Besides a few predictable parts, it was fun seeing the gang getting out of that mess. Too bad about the Yattermen General though. Not that I feel sorry for him but that was kinda brutal the way the ended up :p

The use of VHS, it was sort of fun to see the original Yatterman.

Oda-sama... when pigs flies.

Goro sacrificing his life for something he believes in, he did find himself at the end.

Looking forward to the changed Yatter Kingdom next week or perhaps a bad end!

So Goro ended up taking his own life on his own terms, too bad he never got to talk to Alouette after his memory recovery. Not sure what to expect from the next episode.

I think the penultimate episode of Angel Beats made more sense than this.

Bleh... didn't like this episode at all...

They portray Dokurobey as pretty much 100% evil. Sure, they try to pull a, "Well they didn't let me leave" excuse to try and justify his behavior but it's pretty obvious the reason the Yatterman didn't let him is because he was up to shady shenanigans and even if he wasn't, it doesn't excuse bombing the world and enslaving the human race for your own sick pleasure until they all die. It makes this series so one-sided. Doesn't help when they info-dump it all...

Then they throw them in jail... with their gadgets... okay... buddy... I know you are very evil and everything but are you seriously this stupid? YOU LET THEM KEEP THEIR GADGETS?! Isn't this guy supposed to be some mastermind who enslaved the entire race with brainwashing technology and an army of robots?

Then there's Goro... Okay, considering he was pretty much mostly a scumbag throughout the show and then they pull out the whole, "No he was actually a nice guy but was brainwashed" thing. That might have worked if they gave us time to get to know him or get to know his relationship with Alouette but giving us a 3 minute flashback before killing him off doesn't hold any emotional impact... We wasted so much time on pointless filler episodic adventures when they could have given us more insight into the characters...

Humor wasn't all that funny... action was below average... characterization was rushed, story was rushed and has become as basic as it gets... Well, it ends next week and they are going to have to recover from the blast, set up a plan, travel to the city, defeat the villain and wrap up the show all in 20 minutes. Good luck doing that without it seeming rushed show.

Another great episode like the last one, and the first one! Finally! Now if the last episode can keep up this much quality, I'll probably give it a higher score.

Sure it was predictable in parts, but it plays to nostalgia, and I've never even seen Yatterman and I could feel the nostalgia from it. Plus, Dokurobey is correct in that (at least from his words) he just wanted to go back home, and Yatterman messed up his plans, making him feel like his revenge was justified.

Poor Goro, I knew he would come to his senses, but its a shame he had to die. Did he break himself into pieces to get out of prison though? Also with the whole skylark thing, the ending makes a bit more sense now.

Does anyone else think that Dokurobey sounds kind of like a Japanese Peter Griffin? I've never really even seen that series and his voice makes me think of it.

That was one hell of a weak feels shot if I ever saw one. We've never really had much reason to care about Alouette in the 1st place considering her not really doing anything, and we barely knew pops to begin with.

Also did we really need to spend half the episode just getting through the big reveals?

That old Dokurobey (Yatterman) is so friggin' annoying with his -dabe. >.<

General Goro was pretty awesome though; taking on all those Yatter soldiers. Those flashbacks were nice too. R.I.P.

Barely average episode. Cliffhanger was lame, but hopefully they'll be able to wrap up everything in the finale.

You want to write a story that sacrifices a little bit of logic instead follow the trail of emotions, you almost pull that off in episode 3, now it's near the end you want to do it again but this time the structure is vastly different and unlike before that was just in one episode, the effectiveness now partly depends on how much exposition, how well the audience knows the characters and how much they want them to succeed at what they are doing from previous episodes. When it doesn't work, it's hard not to feel manipulated; the true agenda of Dokurobey, writer clearly knows Oda-sama is a plot device and they still do that, Gorou somehow break the cell, too much convenient. Nostalgic feeling aside, this show is just like Rolling Girl, they both try to hit you with overwhelming sentimental, but failed to do so because the story lacks one basic element, the strong sense of flow.

So Goro's death was actually kind of emotional; sort of recaptured the feel of the first episode. I feel that this show could have been a lot better if they cut out all the crap in the middle. :/

You'd think for a show that has pretty much killed itself after episode 1 like Yatterman, a major plot twist is gonna make things a bit more interesting. Nope, it just made it even worse.

The main villian is so pathetic and out of place, you'd wonder why you watched all these episodes mocking an oppressive self-proclaimed righteous government ends being up completely pointless because it IS EVIL. Hell it isnt even a government, just a big bad evil guy oppressing everyone for petty reasons.
Also thanks a lot for the random backstory. I'm totally convinced about the general relationship with that useless girl; not that it was shown at any point during the show at all. And really, what was the point of that when his character was about loyalty to the lord????

Man, this episode was damn good.

The whole twist with Dokurobey was great. So he ended up beating Yatterman and enslaved the world using Yatterman's name. He really did get his revenge! It's a pretty messed up world he made.

And Goro sacrificing himself for Ally was so touching man, I choked up during that whole sequence. :(

Also my guess now is that Gatchan is Yatterman's descendant! I never once even thought that was possibility until this episode, but now that I think about it, it makes total sense. You can't just have Doronjo falling in love with an original character, it has to be Yatterman's descendant to make it more ironic and a bigger twist.

I thought for a second that Ally could have potentially been Lady Yatterman's descendant, but considering that Yatterman and Lady Yatterman probably got it on, that wouldn't make much sense if she was..... Unless Ally and Gatchan are long lost relatives which I don't think is the case.

And has anyone figured out what the ED is all about? My guess is that it's about Gatchan's parents (though it looks like Gatchan and Ally are in there themselves, but I can't really tell who is who because they look very similar).

The tables are revealed, and all the pieces of the puzzle are the perfect fit. With these elements the plot, for me, is the right solution and avoid possible criticism.
Narrative that follows its always good script, curious to see if the TV series ends in the next episode, or there will be a sequel.
Drawings and animations good, but the soundtrack is the strong point. That longing reviewing those sequences original Yatterman.

RIP dude voiced by Hiyama, your scream will be remembered. Why is Hiyama such a good voice actor, there aren't any better VA for a yelling character haha.

It was nice seeing them play old Yatterman footage with the opening theme song. Now if they would end the show with Doronjo and co singing the Doronbo song, it would be perfect.

For a show that's supposed to capture the spirit of a "Saturday Morning Cartoon" or what you call them, the villain was alright. Kinda like a twist on the "bad guy gets beaten every episode" and now gets fed up with it and kills the main protagonist.

Eh...this plot twist...is similar to Rolling Girls, another anime that was airing this season. I don't know, it just feels out of place. Well this anime doesn't even makes sense in the first place lol

Honorable Oda is the GOAT!

Sad that Goro and Dog died.
If you see that my post is exactly 1 month old (or more) from when it was posted... Don't waste your time, especially when you want to reply with something petty & insignificant. Assume that I've moved on (because I have).

-i'm glad they're all back to their goofy selves
-oh baby tape rewinding
-A L R I G H T H O L D T H E F U C K U P
-bruh that video explained nothing
-somewhat disappointed that dokurobei's turning out to the generic villain but i guess that was just a limitation of the source material
-also when did the pig start talking actual lines
-BibleThump

So Dokurobei turned out to be a total disappointment, but that may be just because of the restrictions of the original series. At least the 5 stooges are still interesting in principle, with the Dorombo descendants having compassion for the imprisoned citizens in spite of their lineage. Also, rest in rip in pieces 5ro.
